The Planning Commission consists of seven (7) qualified electors of Kiawah Island that are appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council. Commissioners serve for four (4) year terms without compensation. The Planning Commission consists of:

This seven-member volunteer group is aided by the professional staff of the Charleston County Planning Department, which acts as the Town's planning department.

MEETING SCHEDULE
Meetings are open to the public and are normally held on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The primary objectives of the Planning Commission are to approve plats and make recommendations to the Town Council on planned development, zoning district and map amendments, zoning text amendments, and comprehensive plan amendments.
