Evacuation Route off of Kiawah Island

If a mandatory evacuation order is issued, the route will be Bohicket Road and Main Road to Highway 17. Take left on Highway 17 heading south to SC 64 to Walterboro. You may have no choice.

If you leave during a voluntary evacuation request, you will be able to pick your own route.

Even though lane reversal of I-26 has been incorporated into the plan, evacuees should still expect traffic delays and plan accordingly. The two hour drive to Columbia may take six or more hours during evacuation.
