Family Safety
- Drink plenty of water during recreational activities to prevent dehydration. Use sunscreen.
- Protect yourself from mosquitos and no-see-ums by wearing pants, long sleeves and/or bug spray. In the warm months, these flying insects are present throughout the day but are worse at dawn and dusk.
- DO NOT approach, feed or taunt alligators.
- Use bicycles and skates responsibly. Stay on trails and off the roads and golf cart paths.
- Biking and jogging on Kiawah Island Parkway (inside the gate), Governor's Drive, and Ocean Course Drive is prohibited.
- Obey speed limits. Watch out for pedestrians, bikers, golfers, skaters, and wildlife, especially deer.
- Fireworks and firearms are prohibited on the island.
- Gas and electric grills are ONLY permitted to be used on decks of single family homes. Do not use grills on decks or balconies of condos or villas.
