Wanda Johnson and the Shrimp City Slim band - November 9, 2007

For an evening of blues and ballads, don’t miss Wanda Johnson and the Shrimp City Slim Band on Friday, November 9^th at the Sandcastle beginning at 8:00 p.m.  Wanda Johnson known as the “new voice of South Carolina soul and blues” is an intense and vivacious singer.  Miss Johnson is renowned for her passionate vocals and making a connection with her audience.  Tickets for the event are available beginning Monday, October 29^th at Town Hall. 

Wanda Johnson, a natural-born singer and entertainer, hails from a large family (born, 1963; one of nine children...all girls!) in a farming community in upstate South Carolina. She has lived with music all her life.

Performing semi-pro since the early 1990s, Wanda is quickly gaining notoriety as a new star on the national scene. She sings with conviction and great emotion and has become known for her ability to really connect with an audience.

In addition, she writes much of her own music. Almost without exception, she is accompanied by Charleston-based keyboard player Shrimp City Slim (Gary Erwin) (as a duo) or with his full band. (www.shrimpcityslim.com)
