2019-2020 Charitable Grant Applications
The Town of Kiawah Island is proud to contribute to philanthropic work in the community. Given available resources, the Town supports a variety of charitable and educational organizations on whose services/programs seek to benefit Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island communities. The application and a copy of the Town’s detailed policy are available below.
The deadline for applications is on or before Friday, January 17, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. All applicants will be required to meet with a member of staff to review their application. In some cases, a site visit may be required. After application reviews, Town staff will make recommendations to the Ways and Means Committee for consideration. Applications will receive a preliminary review at the March 24, 2020 Ways and Means Committee meeting. Final approval will be at the April 7, 2020, Town Council Meeting. (Applicants presence is not required at either meeting)
The Town of Kiawah will consider proposals for projects that meet the following criteria:
- Organizations located in Charleston County whose services/programs seek to benefit Johns Island and Wadmalaw Island communities
- Organizations that provide services that are accessible to the public; benefit or enhance the community and demonstrate financial stability
- Result in a measurable impact on the community
- Will use the grant and complete the project within twelve months
Priority consideration will be given to applicants that:
- Utilize large volunteer participation
- Collaborate with other organizations
- Leverage their funding sources
- Whose primary objectives are philanthropy and social well-being
