Beach Leash Restrictions Change Monday
Beginning Monday, March 16 dogs must be leashed on the beach except in the designated dog-use area located between the eastern boundary of the Beach Club and the Ocean Course Clubhouse.
The dog-use area allows dogs off-leash year-round from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Owners must remain with their pet, have the pet under control, and have a leash in their possession. Electronic leashes are prohibited. Dogs are never allowed in the critical habitat area and should never be allowed to flush nesting shorebirds.
Town ordinances are enforced by Beach Patrol and Code Enforcement officers who are authorized to ticket offenders. Anyone experiencing problems regarding noncompliance can report the issue to Beach Patrol at 843-518-2880.
Friendly reminder: Dogs must be leashed at all times outside unless they are in an enclosed area. The only exception to this rule is on the beach in the designated year-round off-leash area. Problems regarding noncompliance off the beach should be reported to 24-hour ordinance violation hotline 843-259-2137.
