Former Arts Council Member Arie DeZanger Passes

We regret to announce the passing away of former Arts Council member Arie deZanger. deZanger was one of the founding members of the Arts Council and served from 2005 to 2014 when he retired.
A tremendous asset to our Arts Council, deZanger was an enthusiastic and entertaining contributor; who created our Piano Bars and oversaw ballet performances.
Often referred to as “Painter with a Camera,” deZanger was an internationally acclaimed professional photographer; whose photographs are the subjects of many gorgeous books, including Treasury of the Gun, The Encyclopedia of Fish Cookery, The World Atlas of Wine, Wines, and Spirits and many others. His specialty was still-life and food photography for publishing, advertising and corporate clients; such as Lancome, Sears, Citibank, McGraw Hill and many more world-renowned clients.
Arie and his wife Wilma traveled the world, working to create and market the InterContinental Hotel brand. Wilma was an integral part of the branding effort, working alongside Arie to manage production, dress models, and create settings. CNN recently wrote an article that included their work: https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/intercontinental-hotel-75-years/index.html
A Celebration of Life service is being planned for the spring for deZanger, who will be remembered fondly for his great sense of humor and love of music and art. In place of flowers, contributions can be sent to the Scholarship Fund of Saint Thomas Choir School, 202 West 58th Street, New York, NY 10019.
