Hurricane Dorian Update #8
As we are experiencing severe weather from Hurricane Dorian, residents should be aware of the following:
As Dorian passes offshore, current weather conditions are expected to continue through this evening, and the next high tide is at 2:15 p.m., which has the potential for flooding. Please remember, Charleston County is still under a hurricane warning, storm surge, and flash flood warning.
Residents should stay home and off the roads for their safety. SJFD has reported multiple trees, and power lines are down blocking roads. Main Road is closed at Belvedere due to trees and power lines across the road. River Road is closed at Mullet Hall Road due to a large tree across the road. Personnel are clearing trees where possible.
Power is out island wide. Berkeley Electric has notified us that this was not an intentional shut-off but was due to severe weather conditions. Currently, they have 25,659 members without power. Winds remain above 35 mph, so crews are unable to begin restoration efforts.
Damage assessment and debris clean up teams are ready to respond as needed.
As always, in an emergency dial 911, do not call the main gate.
