ICYMI: Meet the Candidates Event
In Case You Missed It:
The Towns of Kiawah and Seabrook co-hosted a “meet the candidates” event for the two Republican primary candidates for Charleston County Council District 9 – Joe Qualey and Jenny Costa Honeycutt on Wednesday, May 30 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Kiawah Island Municipal Center located at 4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway.
Both Mayor Weaver and Mayor Ciancio asked each candidate a series of questions on behalf of their residents.
Here is the full video of the event:
Why Does this June 12 Primary Election Matter?
- If the Republican nominee for County Council’s District 9 wins the election in November, she or he will vote for the next four years on all county matters and issues affecting Kiawah and Seabrook, as well as the remainder of the district including James Island, Folly Beach, and parts of West Ashley and Johns Island.
- There are a number of very important county issues that affect and impact the residents of Kiawah and Seabrook, such as the road safety and congestion, the delivery of public safety services, and the continued growth of Johns Island that will demand attention during this next term of office.
- Historically, the services furnished by Charleston County to Kiawah and Seabrook have not been commensurate to the proportion of the County’s revenue derived from our two communities.
