Important Notices – Post Hurricane Dorian
Please read the following important notices regarding recovery operations:
Damage Assessment:
The Town has finished the damage assessment survey and is happy to report the island did not have any structural damage to properties and boardwalks. Also, the beach did not suffer any erosion.
Electricity:
Berkeley Electric crews are currently on the island working to restore power. We expect power to be restored for most of the island over the next 24 hours, though it will come on in different parts of the island at different times.
Water:
Due to the power outages, Kiawah Island Utility is asking residents to minimize their wastewater flows
Trash Collection:
For the next two weeks (wks of Sept 9 & Sept 16) trash collection will be doubled and will follow the schedule below:
Streets that have Monday collection, trash will be collected Monday and Thursday. Streets that have Tuesday collection, trash will be collected Tuesday and Friday.

Recycling:
Recycling will be collected on Wednesday island wide.
Yard Debris:
Coming soon – the collection schedule will be released when it has been finalized.
Brown Trash and Hazardous Waste | September 27
Brown Trash and Hazardous Waste Collection has been rescheduled for Friday, September 27. All brown trash must be placed on the curb by 7:00 a.m. to ensure collection. Hazardous Waste must be brought to the Municipal Center (4475 Betsy Kerrison Pkwy) for disposal between 8:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m. Hazardous material cannot be placed at the curb.

Island Access
Resident Access:
Access for residents and non-resident property owners will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday September 7). We caution all returning property owners that road clearing operations will still be underway, and some streets may still have limited access at that time. Returning residents and property owners will be expected to abide by any temporary roadblocks, restrictions, or detours while crews complete their work.
Commercial Access:
All cleanup efforts, such as general landscape cleanup, and site checks will not be permitted until regular commercial hours resume on Monday, Sept. 9. If you have immediate need for storm damage repairs, click here to review the restricted access procedures.
Property Owner Guests and Rental Guests
Property Owner guests and rental guests will be permitted on Kiawah beginning at noon on Sunday.
