Scheduled Water Outage Notice – Tuesday, September 11
Posting on behalf of Kiawah Island Utility
The contractor for the St. John’s Fire Department has requested a scheduled water outage for Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. as part of their work in constructing the new Fire Station.
The outage will affect the areas of:
- Osprey Cottage Lane
- Marsh Cottage Lane
- Flyway Drive (100 Flyway and east)
- Osprey Point Lane
- Ballybunion Lane
- all areas beyond the intersection of Flyway and Ocean Course Drive.
The alternate/rain date is Wednesday, Sept. 12 into Thursday, Sept. 13.
KIU has agreed to schedule this unavoidable outage overnight in an attempt to limit the impact on our customers. We ask members to temporarily shut off their irrigation systems during the outage, which will help us to restore service in a more timely manner.
We are advised that heavy equipment is necessary to perform this work, so members in the immediate area of the fire station will likely experience noise during the night. As a precaution, KIU will have staff in communication with the fire department’s contractor during the whole outage. We appreciate your understanding as the Fire Department works to improve its facilities.
In anticipation of your questions, KIU offers the following:
The water will be safe to drink once returned to service.
The Fire Department has advised they will be prepared to respond in the event an emergency arises during this time.
KIU will be flushing water in order to remove air from the main lines, but in the event, you have air in your lines, please run your spigot until it clears.
