Shorebird Stewardship Kickoff Meeting
By: Aaron Given, Wildlife Biologist
Interested in helping to protect Kiawah’s shorebirds? Please consider joining the Kiawah Shorebird Stewardship Program! Shorebird Stewards serve as advocates to protect our shorebirds and their critical habitats by teaching residents and guests about the birds that nest, rest, and feed on our beach.
The 2020 season kickoff meeting will be on March 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the Municipal Center at 4475 Betsy Kerrison Pkwy. Everyone is invited, returning Shorebird Stewards, and interested parties. Please RSVP by emailing Bette Popillo at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be a field training session on March 18 at 9 a.m. please meet at the Ocean Course beach access. We will explore the east beach area while looking for Red Knots and talking about the protected nesting area. Please RSVP by emailing Bette Popillo at email@example.com.
If you wish to participate but are unable to attend a training program, please let us know, and we will try to arrange on-the-job training with an experienced steward.
