The Arts Council is pleased to present Frederick Moyer – originally scheduled to appear in Kiawah in April 2020 – this holiday season in a virtual video concert. Join Moyer in celebrating the Holiday season AND Beethoven’s 250th birthday! December 16, 2020 (or 17? – no one knows for sure) is the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest, most revolutionary composers, whose profound influence reached far beyond music. Moyer’s recital includes solo classical and jazz with bassist Peter Tillotson and drummer Jim Gwin.
Repertoire to include:
Jazz arrangements of “Let It Snow”, “The Christmas Song”, “Borukh Ate, Zingt Der Tate” (Hannukah song), “Christmas is Coming” and others.
Bartok: Rumanian Christmas Carols
Bach (arranged by Myra Hess): “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”
Beethoven: “Waldstein” Sonata
During over thirty years as a full-time concert pianist, Moyer has established a vital musical career that has taken him to forty-three countries and to such far-flung venues as Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Sydney Opera House, Windsor Castle, Carnegie Recital Hall, Tanglewood, and the Kennedy Center. He has appeared as piano soloist with most of the major orchestras of the United States as well as many orchestras of Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and Australia. Moyer’s jazz influences are many, but people often hear in his style Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Ahmad Jamal.
